About us

The Cosmic Romantics are a powerhouse magic duo redefining what live entertainment can feel like. Started in Los Angeles in 2021, the act is composed of married performers Elizabeth Messick and Eric Thirstin, who together bring a vaudeville-inspired blend of illusion, storytelling, comedy, music, and juggling to the stage. Known for fooling Penn & Teller on national television, they create intimate, emotionally resonant performances that invite audiences to travel back in time, tumble down the rabbit hole, and journey through their imagination.

Elizabeth messick

Elizabeth Messick is one of today’s most sought-after variety entertainers, known for blending vintage magic with music and theatrical flair. She grew up in Orange County and began practicing magic at just nine years old, long before she ever knew that her great-grandfather had been a magician in 1930s Honduras. Years later, discovering this legacy gave her work a deeper meaning, carrying forward her family’s tradition while forging her own path as a modern performer.

Before pursuing magic full time, Elizabeth built a career in music, singing in multiple bands and serving as the front woman of Golden Afternoon, which the Los Angeles Times described as “if Tom Waits and Ella Fitzgerald had a baby.” A proud first-generation Honduran American, she was the youngest member ever elected to the Board of Trustees at the world-famous Magic Castle in Hollywood.

Elizabeth has headlined premier venues including House of Blues, Black Rabbit Rose (Hollywood’s famed speakeasy magic venue), Meltdown Comics, and the Globe Theater. She has appeared on Netflix’s Emmy-winning Ada Twist, Scientist, the YouTube sensation Blippi, and the Sundance-selected feature film Marvelous and the Black Hole. Her corporate clients include Google and Prada.

Eric Thirstin Siegel has consulted for Disney Channel, Dropout, and Las Vegas headliners. The Chicago Tribune praised his work as "pushing the boundaries of long form storytelling," and the L.A. times dubbed him a "petulant Lou Reed."

Born into a magic family, Eric began performing (against his will) at a young age, juggling at the International Brotherhood of Magicians' Ring 43 in Chicago. In high school he was cast in the Second City Teen Ensemble, and his college sketch group, The Other Other Guys, went on to perform at Chicago Sketch Fest, Sketch Fest NYC, and the TBS Just For Laughs Festival. He won two Del Awards at iO Chicago including one for best written show.

Eric moved to Los Angeles in 2012, appearing in BuzzFeed videos, performing regularly at the Magic Castle, and writing raunchy party movies like FKD UP! His high concept magic act, The New Bad Boys of Magic, headlined at Chicago Magic Lounge, The Comedy Store, and even got kicked out of UCB (the exact quote was, "You need to pick up your cards and leave immediately"). Their variety show, Dirty Tricks, sold out The Three Clubs in Hollywood for 3 straight years. He met Elizabeth in the underground variety scene, fell in love, and now they tour the world performing on Princess Cruises and Virgin Voyages.
